1. Separate the sign’s identity from its ability to light

3. Inventory the complete glass system

- Restoration returns the sign toward a selected historical appearance or operating state and may involve recreated glass, paint, wiring, or components.
A restored sign can be beautiful and collectible without being “all original.” Ask which tubes, paint, panels, supports, wiring, transformer, and structural elements are old, repaired, reproduced, or replaced, and whether photographs or invoices document the work.
6. Plan the move before setting your maximum bid
A wall-mounted cabinet may become much larger after glass clearance, cushioning, blocking, and a protective crate.
